Hell God

Gozer (also known as Gozer the Gozerian, Gozer the Destructor, Gozer the Traveler, Volguus Zildrohar and Lord of the Sebouillia) is an ancient, powerful, entity from another dimension who was summoned to New York City to destroy the world. Gozer was originally worshiped as a god by the Hittites, Mesopotamians, and the Sumerians around 6000 BC. Gozer is genderless. It was worshiped by the powerful Cult of Gozer.

Gozer the Destructor’s earliest known appearance was in Mesopotamia around 6000 BC and was worshiped by both the Hittites and Mesopotamians. It rose to prominence in Sumeria thousands of years later. During that time, various cults arose to worship it and in a short time, developed their own hierarchy and system of ritual magic. By the 4th millennium B.C. the Gozer Worshipers, or “Gozerians” consisted of a large Sumerian sub-culture and was engaged in a long, protracted war with the followers of Tiamat. Eventually Gozer and its followers were defeated and Tiamat cut Gozer into several pieces, and banished him from the world. The first known written reference to Gozer is a brief phrase in an Egyptian legend believed to reach back to the end of the Middle Kingdom (2040-1650 B.C.). This particular chronicle, dated to approximately 1600 B.C., warns about a powerful deity of the Hyksos known as Zuul, or Gatekeeper, minion of Gozer.

Although labelled a Hell God, as god of his own domain, Gozer is for all intents and purposes a pure demon descendant of the Old Ones – it was not one of the primordial beings that predate the physical realm. Still, it should not be underestimated as it is exceedingly long lived and was one of the most powerful demons still at large following the Old Ones being driven into the deeper well.

Each of the pieces of Gozer hold an aspect of his power, and it is said that if they should all ever meet the being would be able to reform on this plane of existence.

Two of these pieces have been controlled by the party – both the right and left eyes of Gozer, one offering physical protection the other magical.

Gozer agreed to offer these aspects of his power in sacrifice to assist in the spell to banish Morning Star in exchange for Alaric finding another method to resurrect the hell god.

In return Allaric agreed to revive the God like demon, and with the help of Nina brought Gozer into the physical realm.

Clutching onto the nearest physical form, Gozer was revived as an exact physical duplicate of Nina. This caused Nina great discomfort, so at the request of the party she modified her form into one resembling a picture provided by Aurelius.

For the first time in its long lived life, Gozer felt fear – now in what it considers a fragile form, in a hostile world, it clings to memories of its past and has retreated into a darkened studio, using the television to learn more about the world and waiting for the opportunity to test the limits of its current form.
